Welcome to Emmanuel Church!

Join us to worship God and to hear from His Word.

A Sunday service, March 2023

We are a community of people of all ages and backgrounds, brought together by our faith in Jesus as the Son of God.

Our vision as a church is to be a growing, charismatic, family church with a world vision.

We’d love you to join us at our Sunday morning meeting, our main meeting of the week, which is an an opportunity to encounter God and learn more about Him together.

We meet at 10.30am, at The Emmanuel Centre, Durham, UK. Find us here.

Some of our stewards

Before our service begins in The Emmanuel Centre, refreshments are available from 10am in The Durham Centre, which is next to The Emmanuel Centre.

On arrival at The Durham Centre, our stewards (pictured), in dark T-shirts, will be there to welcome you.

We begin our meetings with a time of musical worship – thanking and praising God.

From 11am, there are specific groups for children and young people (see below).

Meanwhile, the adults hear a sermon – teaching from the Bible. There may then be further musical worship and/or an opportunity to respond to God.

Tea and coffee is available afterwards in the foyer of The Durham Centre.

Children and Youth

Children and young people are an important part of our church family. We have specific groups for different ages, from the very youngest to the end of secondary education.

- Little Sparks (Early Years), is for our youngest Rising Generations and our first group in our early years. Ages 1-3 years old. Team leader is Rachel Baker.

- Ignite (Early Years), is for children from the ages of 3 (and potty trained) until the end of their reception year at school. Team Leader is Anne Portwine.

- Flames (Kids), is the first of our kids groups aimed at children in school years 1 and 2. Team Leader is Claire Gray.

- Blaze (Kids), is our provision for children in school years 3-6. Team Leaders are Matt Jackson & Dan Baker.

- Inferno (Youth) is for young people in school years 7-11. Team Leaders are Dan Baker, Matt Jackson & Ashaleigh Higgins.

Years 12 and 13 are expected to join in with the services or serve on a team.

On Sundays, children’s and youth groups meet in The Durham Centre. Parents and carers should take their children to their meeting rooms, and collect them from there after the service, at 12.15pm.

We also have activities that take place during the week, including groups and one-to-one discipling. Visit our Children and Youth page to find out more.

We want our church to be a welcoming environment where people of all ages and backgrounds can feel and be safe. In order to ensure this, photography or recording of meetings is not permitted without prior consent. If you have any questions, please get in touch.
