In August, some of our young people are going to China to help in an orphanage.
To raise money for the trip, some of our Emmanuel Church Cycling Club undertook a 70-mile bike ride around the region - well done guys!
Here are some photos from the day. If you want to sponsor the trip, get in touch.
God Loves, our annual week of serving and loving local communities, was held in Ushaw Moor and Chester-le-Street.
It began with a Fun Day, held at Ushaw Moor Cricket Ground.
Then there was Worship and Teaching in the mornings, followed by Serving in the Community during the afternoons and community events in the evenings.
John Oliver writes...
βThe Student and 20s community were involved in a week seeking to reach out into the local communities called βGod Lovesβ.
As with previous years this involved running a family fun day, litter picking, gardening, an after school fun bus, and chatting with people about Jesus in Ushaw Moor, with some accompanying evening events.
On top of activity in Ushaw Moor, this year small teams also went across to Chester-Le-Street to advertise the upcoming Emmanuel congregation and find out ways in which the community felt the church could be of service.
Through the week, many conversations were had, prayers were shared and the good news was preached.
It felt like some good connections were established with members of the local community and it was great to support and encourage the ongoing work into both of these areas.
We thank God for the consistently excellent weather and for very few logistical hitches. Many thanks for all of your prayers, and please be praying that the seeds that were sown will bear fruit throughout these areas.β
