Sunday mornings at Emmanuel Church are lively and exciting. We want to welcome people from all ages and backgrounds to join us in worshipping God and learning more about him together. Here is a description of a typical Sunday morning so you can have some idea of what to expect.
When you arrive, our car park attendants - unmissable in their flourescent jackets - will direct you to a space. Then you will be welcomed by our team of Stewards who you can recognise by their black T-Shirts with the church logo. If you are new, don’t forget to collect your welcome pack from them! Tea and Coffee are available before the service in the foyer.
The meeting starts at 10:30am with a time of worship. During this time people are invited to contribute using the microphones at the front. Then there will be some notices about upcoming events, at which point the children and young people leave to attend their groups (please see the kids and youth pages to find out more about these). Then there will be a sermon lasting about 30 minutes.
At the end of the service tea and coffee are again served in the foyer. Please join us and get to know some people in the church.
The first Sunday of every month is known as a Hope Sunday. These morning meetings are particularly aimed at explaining the Christian faith in a way that is accessible to non-Christians. The sermon will typically be shorter and there will be a chance to respond to the message that is brought by the speaker.
Some Sundays we will break bread together to celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. This will take place at the end of the service and the children’s groups will finish early so that they can join us for this. People are invited to go to one of four tables to share in the bread and wine.
Some Sundays we will have baptisms. These are services of great celebration as we watch people making a public declaration of faith. The childrens groups will finish early so that the children can join us for these special occassions.
